About this experience
Every Arena opera night comes with a built-in problem nobody warns you about: a completely free day, in summer heat, that most visitors spend walking themselves tired before four hours on Roman stone. This experience is the local answer to it.
The afternoon is in the Valpolicella, the hills that begin just north of the city. Two family wineries with your guide and sommelier: the cellar, the fruttaio — the drying loft where Amarone's grapes rest for months before pressing — and unhurried tastings through Valpolicella Classico, Ripasso and Amarone. The cellars are cool when Piazza Bra is not, the pace is seated and slow, and nothing about the day competes with the evening — it builds toward it.
The difference from our regular tasting days is the clock. On opera days we run the itinerary backwards from your curtain: departure early afternoon, second cellar closed out in time, and you are back at your hotel by 18:30 — guaranteed, with margin for a shower and a change. We send you our aperitivo plan for the pre-opera hour near Piazza Bra (and reserve it for you on request), and you walk to the gates in time to see the candles lit across the steps at dusk.
Your opera ticket stays yours to choose — sector taste is personal and the official sale at arena.it is the right place to buy. Tell us your performance date, and the afternoon is engineered around it.
